Colorado Theater Shooting

I wanted to share my thoughts on the Colorado theater shooting.  The one thing that I keep playing over in my head is that this is a different world we live in compared to when I was a kid back in the '80's.  Sure there was evil in the world but we seemed to be somehow protected from it and it never really affected us.  The most terrorism we would see would be guys with potato sacks over their heads demanding something out of an airplane.
I would always go to the Tradewinds theater when I was a kid all of the time.  I was always out and about riding my bike, playing in the park, or just hanging out with my friends until the sun came down.  There was never any threat of being abducted or anything, we just had fun.  Now I could not even imagine letting my kids go out and play unless my eye was on them.
I just don't understand the why's.  Why would someone just randomly start killing people enjoying a movie?  Nothing is sacred anymore and it makes me want to get a gun to protect my family but I can't do that in Illinois since it is the only state that does not allow me to carry a concealed weapon.  Life can be very hard but that does not give a person the right to just kill innocent people enjoying a movie.
People in the news are saying that this is a rare and isolated incident but it is not.  These kind of shootings are happening at schools, universities, military institutions, resorts and now movie theaters.  It makes me wonder what the next place will be for this kind of shooting, thus the reason for wanting to carry a gun.  Will it be the grocery store, bowling ally, shopping mall, water slide park, race track?  Hearing the story of the 6 year old girl who died breaks my heart and it hits too close to home and it makes me want to protect my family.

A man who is 37 years old and is married with a wife, Karen, of 13 years and two children.  A daughter, Madelyn, who is 7 years old and is Daddy's little princess.  A son, Joshua, who is 6 years old and is Daddy's little man.  Karen provides for the family and Scott is a stay at home Dad.  This is truly and adventure for him which started back in 2009 when he lost his job in the auto industry as the country was in a recession.  Roles are now reversed and the men take care of the house while the women go out and work.  He has a lot of fun and has many adventures to share being a stay at home Dad.  Joshua also has Asperger's syndrom so this is another adventure all to itself.  Whether it is cooking, cleaning, taking care of the many pets or just having fun, Scott is living quite the adventure in life.
